Hare Kṛṣṇa!

Śrī Kṛṣṇa Janmāṣṭamī is the most significant festival in the Vaiṣṇava calendar of Sri Krishna Mandir to commemorate the birth of Lord Kṛṣṇa, The Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Festive fervour hit high and the preparations reached an auspicious crescendo on Janmāṣṭamī day.

On Janmāṣṭamī day, festivities began before dawn and continued throughout the day until midnight which was the time Lord Krishna took birth to embrace the world with love, protection and spiritual wisdom. The celebrations included ecstatic singing and dancing, theatrical performances, dance, children’s shows and honouring the most delicious prasādam dishes and delicacies prepared specially for the occasion.

The Deities were dressed in special outfits, the altar and temple room elaborately decorated with fresh fragrant flowers. Many people fasted and stayed up until midnight Maha Ārati and at the stroke of midnight, devotees gathered around for devotional songs, to welcome the birth of the unborn which was followed by breaking the fast.
