Hare Kṛṣṇa!

What is love?

Śrīla Prabhupāda, speaks about the highest love in the material world which is the love of a mother but even that is temporary and comes to an end.

We are hankering after love. We want to love somebody. That is the nature of living entity. But that love is frustrated in every step. In a water tank you throw one stone. It becomes a circle. And the circle expands, expands, expands unless the circle comes to the shore. Similarly our loving affair begins from personal self to family, from family to society, community, nation, international. But still, it is imperfect unless the circle reaches to the lotus feet of God. Then it is satisfied.

The culmination of perfection of love can be realized when we try to understand, and love God. That can be achieved by Kṛṣṇa consciousness. When we become a lover of Krsna, then all our loving propensities, desires, and hankerings will be satisfied.

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu said, premā pum-artho mahān: “Love of Godhead is the ultimate benediction for all human beings.”
