Hare Kṛṣṇa!

Govardhana Pūjā is the celebration of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s pastime of lifting Govardhana Hill. Lord Kṛṣṇa dissuaded his father, Nanda Mahārāja, from performing a ritualistic sacrifice to the demigod Indra, and encouraged the residents of Vṛndāvana to worship Govardhana Hill. Devotees celebrate this remarkable pastime by observing the festival called Govardhana Pūjā by decorating and worshiping mountains of foodstuff which symbolize Govardhana mountain and circumambulating it. The program was followed by a short discussion on the significance of this pastime of the Lord, following which prasādam was served to all those present for the festival.

Here are some photos from the festival.
