Devotees from ISKM Dallas conducted a book distribution in a hall where there was a large event held. The mayor of Dallas also participated in this event and he got the opportunity to hear about Srila Prabhupada and Lord Krishna from his devotees. This is indeed amazing as many people got to hear about the Lord amid their materialistic activities and get a chance to get out of this conditioned life.

This event was organised by a local Hindu temple in a Conference Hall of Community College. They performed a wedding ceremony to Sri Lakshmi Narasimhadev as per the customs followed by Sri Vaishnavas. Around 2000-3000 Telugu speaking people would have attended this program.

When Vijay Chaitanya Prabhu came to Dallas, the devotees had distributed books at their temple and that’s when they saw a flyer of this event. The devotees requested the temple secretary if he could give them a booth and he had agreed.

Just the night before this event when the devotees went to see the place, the secretary told them that they can’t sell books (absolutely no financial transactions). So the devotees gave small books (<$1) freely to every family along with a Sunday Love feast flyer and a mantra card at least to get some exposure.

The devotees met a very important person who conducts such large scale hindu events and he had called the devotees for a kirtan during their next big event. He said he would help the devotees for Janmastami as well.

So for this event, Frisco City Council member and Frisco city’s Mayor had come too. The devotees approached them as well and spoke to them for a minute and gave them Srila Prabhupada’s books.

Prabhupada: You go on with book distribution. They will be benefited, and distributors also will be benefited. Krsna says, ya idam paramam guhyam mad-bhaktesv abhidhasyati [Bg 18.68]. Na ca tasman manusyesu kascin me priya-krttamah [Bg. 18.69]. If you want to become quickly recognized by Krsna, then make propaganda, this Krsna consciousness movement. And once recognized by Krsna, then your going back to home, back to Godhead, guaranteed. (Morning Walk — July 5, 1975, Chicago)

It does not matter even if we have got a temple, but if the preaching work goes on that is a great satisfaction. (To Krsna das, Seattle 21 Oct 1968)
