As Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda has commented once, there is no scarcity in this world except for Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Both the sinful and pious are facing the perennial problems of repeated birth, death, old age and disease. The conditioned souls are always engaged in a great struggle for existence. They are trying to solve tiny problems which are not actual problems but symptoms of the real problem — repeated birth and death.

Human life is meant to stop this vicious cycle of birth and death and to enter into the kingdom of God for a life of eternity, knowledge and bliss. This is only possible by developing Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Therefore, that endeavor to revive the most essential Kṛṣṇa consciousness among human society is the greatest welfare activity in the entire universe.

We, at Sri Krishna Mandir Singapore, feel extremely fortunate to be part of this great welfare activity under the auspices of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī and His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda. Especially the last month and a half was extremely ecstatic as we distributed more than 10,000 books of Śrīla Prabhupāda and our Science of Godhead magazines to the disillusioned humanity.

The way we do it is we go to trade fairs and distribute books there. And usually we are always in the action and hardly get to take photos of what we do. But we did manage to get some photos and even a couple of videos of our kīrtana from a couple of fairs. The month-long trade fair at the Deepavali Expo opposite the famous Mustafa Centre on Serangoon Road is the biggest trade fair that we participated in.

On the whole, it is an intense spiritual experience. There is no bliss higher than book distribution. In a matter of about 45 days, we distributed more than 10,000 books of Śrīla Prabhupāda, both small and big combined. We even managed to sell 2 sets of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam.

On two occasions, we had the opportunity of performing kīrtana. (Yes, that is a big deal here in Singapore) —

  1. The first one was on the eve of Deepavali at the Deepavali Expo on Serangoon Road. In fact, we have a video clipping of that here. Many hundreds of people enjoyed the kīrtana to their hearts’ content. In fact, the police thought we were creating a commotion and got on our case but found us to be harmless and let us go.
  2. The second one was at an exhibition in Suntec City where we performed the kīrtana as part of a Mahā-Mantra Meditation Workshop. We went to explain the significance of chanting and how it positively affects our consciousness.

We hope to increase the book distribution in other times of the year as well in order to please Śrīla Prabhupāda. We pray for his blessings to be able to do this.

Bṛhad-mṛdaṅga kī jaya!
