Since moving to our new International Sri Krishna Mandir (ISKM) Cairns temple residence two months ago we started regular Sunday programs with kīrtana, lecture and prasādam. Our inauguration festival was a great success with over 10 people joining for a transcendental evening, glorifying the lord. Many are locals who live near the temple and we discovered that some of them had already been reading the Bhagavad-gītā, which allowed for a lively and interactive discourse on the philosophy of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

It has been really inspiring to see the enthusiasm and sincerity of our guests. All of them are reading Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books, one lady is chanting on beads already, a few of them have started offering their food and some are also engaging in Kṛṣṇa’s service and helping with food preparations at the temple.

We are currently working with council to get permission to host a special Sunday Program once a month in the local park, where everyone will be invited for kīrtana, discourse and a prasādam feast. Stay tuned!
