We are very glad to announce that Sri Krishna Mandir, Singapore is graced by a new set of Śrī Śrī Gaura-Nitāi Deities on the auspicious day of Nityānanda Trayodaśī (February 9, 2017). The old Deities have been installed about 20 years ago but are quite small for our temple size and unless devotees come very near in the altar, Their Lordships’ features could not clearly be seen.

So in order to facilitate the meditation on the beauty of Their most merciful Lordships Nitāi-Gauracandra (Lord Nityānanda and Lord Caitanya) by all the visitors to the temple, we have arranged for bigger Deities. Now everyone can bask in the soothing transcendental moonshine of Their lovely faces and make incredible advancement in spiritual life.

SIGNIFICANCE OF ŚRĪ ŚRĪ GAURA-NITĀI

In this kali-yuga, no one can make sufficient spiritual advancement without the mercy of Lord Nityānanda and Lord Caitanya. Therefore it is essential that everyone be able to see and appreciate Their beautiful features.

In accordance with Vedic scriptural authority, Śrīla Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura, a great Vaiṣṇava ācārya has sung (in Bengali):

brajendra-nandana jei, śacī-suta hoilo sei,

balarāma hoilo nitāi

“Lord Kṛṣṇa, who is the son of the King of Vraja, became the son of Śacī (Lord Caitanya), and Lord Balarāma became Nitāi.” They descended more than 500 years ago in the disguise of Vaiṣṇavas to inaugurate the Hare Kṛṣṇa Saṅkīrtana Movement.

Another great ācārya Śrīla Locana dāsa Ṭhākura has sung (in Bengali):

parama karuṇa, pahū dui jana

nitāi gauracandra

saba avatāra-sāra śiromaṇi

kevala ānanda-kanda

“The two Lords, Nitāi-Gauracandra, are very merciful. They are the essence of all incarnations. The specific significance of these incarnations is that They introduced a process of self-realization through chanting and dancing that is simply joyful.”

Upon his first meeting with Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu in Prayāga (present-day Allahabad, India), Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī, the foremost of the disciples of Lord Caitanya, glorified Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu thus:

namo mahā-vadānyāya

kṛṣṇa-prema-pradāya te

kṛṣṇāya kṛṣṇa-caitanya-

nāmne gaura-tviṣe namaḥ

““O most munificent incarnation! You are Kṛṣṇa Himself appearing as Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu. You have assumed the golden color of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī, and You are widely distributing pure love of Kṛṣṇa, which You did in no other incarnation. I offer my respectful obeisances unto You.”

THE FESTIVAL CEREMONY

On the auspicious day of Nityānanda Trayodaśī (February 9, 2017), the main installation ceremony was performed with great festivities. Apart from the relatively small gathering of about 60 devotees in the temple, thousands took part in the festival on Facebook Live from many parts of the world.

We also had an ecstatic program in the evening with exuberant kīrtana, an inspiring lecture by His Grace Sundar Gopāl Prabhu on the importance of accepting the shelter of Lord Nityānanda and, through Him, Lord Caitanya — and through Them — Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. Finally, everybody partook the prasādam feast.

The old Deities will be transported to ISKM Australia and will be the presiding Deities there. The new Deities were sponsored by the devotees from China. In fact, 6 of them attended the installation ceremony here in Singapore.

If you are reading this from Singapore, we invite you to come and take darśana of Their Lordships Śrī Śrī Gaura-Nitāi and learn their process of self-realization, which is full of bliss — singing, dancing, discussing spotless spiritual phiosophy and partaking of prasādam. Self-realization has never been easier. Don’t miss the chance. Come every Sunday at 5pm for our weekly spiritual programs. [End]
